Disney bought Marvel?

I must admit, I much more a DC fan. In fact, I have twice more DC issues than Marvel‘s. However, it was first Marvel that got me into the comics universe. It’s all began with the X-Men and I was a big fan of both Wolverine and Nightcrawler. I would spend my allowance buying old issues at the flea market (I didn’t really know where to buy comics at the time) and doing my best to read them, since my English was very limited at the time. In fact, reading comics probably helped me improving my English greatly… Well, mostly my written English to be honest. As years gone by, my taste in comics changed a lot and I went into the more dark and dramatic world of Batman and DC Universe.. Nevertheless, Wolverine will still hold a place in my heart as my first ever super-hero. I would have bought more Marvel comics if I had more money, but I would end up buying over $100 of comics each month. As far as I remember, the last Marvel issue I’ve bought was a one-shot of Exiles. I haven’t followed that whole Civil War thing. Well, I didn’t follow DC’s Countdown either!
As I decided that I should buy more Marvel issues, I’ve learned what I’ve considered as a very shocking news: Disney bought Marvel! My first reaction has been one of the following: “What the f***? The Universe is about to collapse and my insurance company don’t cover the Apocalypse (and I’m not talking about the mutant villain)! What will happen? Are they gonna make Jonas Brothers meet Spider-Man comics? Will Deadpool team up with Goofy? Seriously, what will become of Marvel?”
Then my mom, who knows hell about comic books, but is a big (old school) Disney fan, said something quite smart: “They probably bought Marvel under certain conditions and if they don’t respect these conditions they may end up losing more money than they invested.” My mom can really surprise me sometimes. She’s kinda right you know. In fact, these so-feared changes might not affect the Marvel universe as we know it. As I seemed to understand from this article, the main changes are that Disney will have all the right over the movies adaptations once all the actual deal with others companies expire, also that they would be more Marvel-related shows on the Disney Channel and some other things. However, it also states that Marvel will remain responsible for deciding where the publisher’s characters will show up in the Disney world and all.
Finally, before screaming on rooftops that Disney will ruin Marvel, why don’t we just wait and see what would happen? After all, it is still too soon to start mourning Marvel. Maybe this deal with bring great opportunities to the company. Unless some of you are psychics, we still don’t know what the future will bring to Marvel. I think I made my point here! End of line.
